EU Mission:
Adaptation to Climate Change

Climate change affects regions across Europe in many different ways, from rising temperatures and more frequent droughts to storms, floods, and wildfires. These impacts vary from place to place, and local authorities often need support to understand their climate risks and plan how to respond to them.

Trees4Adapt contributes to the objectives of the EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change by generating evidence and tools that can help regions make better decisions about tree‑based solutions. The project’s research, models, guidance, and case studies are designed to support climate‑resilient planning and inform land‑management approaches under changing climate conditions.

Adaptation to Climate Change

The EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change helps European regions, cities, and communities become more climate‑resilient. The Mission aims to guide at least 150 regions and communities on their adaptation journey by 2030. It supports them in understanding the risks they face, developing pathways to prepare for the future, and testing innovative solutions on the ground.
The Mission also works to improve access to knowledge, tools, data, and good practices that can help authorities make informed decisions. This includes vulnerability and risk assessments, adaptation planning guidance, examples of successful actions, and opportunities for collaboration across Europe.

Mission Implementation Platform (MIP4Adapt)

EU Missions Adaptation to Climate Change

The EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change is supported by the Mission Implementation Platform (MIP4Adapt), which provides the resources, knowledge, and guidance that regions and communities need on their journey towards climate resilience. MIP4Adapt maintains and develops the Mission’s online Adaptation Portal, the central hub where local and regional authorities can explore climate risk information, practical tools, examples of adaptation in action, and updates about the Mission’s activities and progress. Through the Portal, visitors can also access the Mission’s Community of Practice, where regions share experiences, learn from one another, and connect around adaptation challenges.

Trees4Adapt is featured on the Mission Portal alongside the other EU-funded projects contributing to the Mission’s objectives. By gathering these initiatives together in one place, the Portal helps decision-makers and practitioners find relevant knowledge more easily and see how different projects support Europe’s wider adaptation efforts.
