OptFORESTS

OptFORESTS is an EU‑funded Horizon Europe project working to support the conservation and sustainable use of Europe’s forest genetic resources. The project studies how diverse forest reproductive material, including mixed species and provenances, can help forests adapt to future climate conditions while maintaining productivity and resilience. Combining genetics, modelling, stakeholder engagement and socio‑economic analysis, OptFORESTS develops knowledge and nature‑based solutions to support sustainable forest management, strengthen natural forests, and enhance the contribution of forests to biodiversity conservation, climate action and the bioeconomy.
